Find your cozy.

Any one who has lived through a childhood knows there is no such thing as a perfect life. In fact, there is no such thing as "almost perfect." Every single thing that can be categorized as a noun has flaws...and most of us have many of them. Take a look at this photo (see above). How many things can you find that make the photo less than "perfect" in one minute. There are dozens! The rug is skiddywampus, the drapes are not even, the fire is lop-sided and absent of yellow flames, the blankets don't match, the whole picture is off-center, theres a pink basket that just doesn't go with the reds, and what is that red peeking out from beside one chair?

The list could continue, but what if we stopped and took a different view of the photo. What if we asked what could be good enough. The chairs look loungy and comfortable, the blankets are soft and cozy. The pillows are snuggable. A fire on a cool night would be so nice. There is room for two people to be comfy. This is a cozy place.

Life is so much like this photo...so many pieces of life are just not right, a little wonky, or just not the right color. Many more pieces are downright awful. While we often do not get to choose some parts of life, we do get to choose what we focus on and how we interpret it. When we choose the things to focus on that are various degrees of not perfect, we tend to develop, nourish, and extend a type of feeling that isn't pleasurable to most people. When we tend to forgive those imperfections and dwell on what is good enough, we get a much different set of feelings inside and a different kind of hope and zest for what is to come.

This blog is all about seeing the world and ourselves as totally good enough even in the face of all its imperfections. Join in! Let's see what happens when we think from a place of enoughness, feel from a heart of thankfulness, and act from a place of hope for all to be totally good enough.
